Meet The Band

Kevin playing in paradise!

I’ve been playing music since I was ten, starting as a drummer in 5th grade band.  My first “group” was formed in junior high, soon after I learned 3 chords.  I play guitar, bass, keyboards, cajon, and harmonica.

I enjoy the challenge of playing music that is out of comfort zone, although my favorite genre is British invasion era music.

The best thing I get to do is play music.  Even better, is when you’re playing with people who share your passion because then the music becomes magic.  We are so blessed to be able to share that magic with others.  This is the best job I have ever had.

TFT is an exciting opportunity to be, as I call it:  “Not your average band.”  Check us out!  We are definitely different.

I can’t imagine life without music! I am the third of six children and growing up our  home was always filled with music. My parents sang in the church choir and in turn, we  all did. Growing up, I was part of choirs in grade school and eventually singing in  multiple groups in high school. I even performed with a college show choir.

It was in my senior year in High School that I took my first guitar class. I truly loved to  play but did so sporadically. I played for my own enjoyment and to pass the time. After  I got married and my wife and I started to raise our family, my guitar got pushed from  room to room with the occasional “dusting off” to play for the kids or just to see if I  could still remember what I’d learned.

A few years ago, I ran into a friend that knew I played and he told me of a class he would  be teaching and suggested I should join to brush up on my guitar skills. Well, I thought  about it for awhile, and decide to take him up on it. That decision would set me on my  musical journey. From there I met a group of people (now my friends) that got together  every week to play in a garage band which gave me the opportunity to really hone my  guitar skills and beyond. I played with them for several years when Kevin approached me to fill an empty position in a band he was currently in. I said yes and from that point  on, Kevin and I have become great friends. Together we’ve played in multiple bands and  with the worship team at our church, where we were blessed to hear Christie sing and  ultimately join us.

So now I have arrived to play with “Two Friends Trio”. Kevin and Christie are fun  people to be around and both share my love for music. This venture will be an awesome  ride.

I would be remiss if I didn’t thank those who have supported me with my music; my  friends, siblings, my children and grandchildren. Most especially, I’d like to thank my  loving wife Martha, who without her love and encouragement to strengthen me, none of  it would have been possible.   Jerry

Christie is ready to go!

Christie is the lead vocalist for Two Friends Trio.  She has been involved in music her entire life following in her parent’s footsteps.  At the age of 4, she started singing in churches across the country.  One of her favorite childhood memories is falling asleep to her parent’s band practicing music each evening.

When she became a teenager, she started singing on her own and quickly became known as “mini Amy Grant” to which was a complete compliment.  She took a break for a while to raise her children, but now that they are adults, she is back at it.  Did we mention that her children are also musically inclined?

The most influential bands for Christie are Duran Duran, John Mayer, Amy Grant, Nora Jones, Foo Fighters, Jeremy Camp, Mamas and Papas, and We The Kingdom.  She loves a wide range of music and will listen to just about anything if it has a good beat or a good message behind it.

As a full-time employee managing two companies, owning a company of her own, and being involved with her family, Christie loves to take advantage of every moment of the day.  With everything she is already involved in, she is still excited to start this journey with her two friends.

A message from Christie:

“I first want to say thank you God for everything!  To my parents, thank you for raising me in a musical family.  So many memories stem around all of us being together singing, laughing, and fighting for control of the microphone.   To my children, YOU are the greatest blessings in my life and I am truly the luckiest mom in the world!  Finally, to my wonderful husband, through all the dark paths we have had to walk, God had a plan to carry us through them.  I could have never dreamed that our lives together would be so blessed.  Thank you for all your support, love and commitment to me and the kids.  The best is yet to come! I love you all more than you will ever know.”
